Gold Coast police charge 38-year-old man with drug and firearm offences

A Gold Coast man will front court after police allegedly discovered him carrying a gun, ammunition, a flick knife and drugs.

A GOLD Coast man will front court after police allegedly discovered him carrying a gun, ammunition, a flick knife and drugs.

Just before 12.30am this morning, police noticed a 38-year-old man leaving his Labrador apartment complex on Frank Street, with another man.

After speaking with the two men, police allege they found a shortened firearm, ammunition, a flick knife, along with a quantity of methylamphetamine, prescription medication, cannabis and drug utensils on the 38-year-old.

He was arrested and later charged with four counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of unlawful possession of weapons, and one count each of authority required to possess explosives, possess shortened firearms and possess property suspected of having been used in the connection with a drug offence.

He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.

A 35-year-old man from North Lakes was charged with one count possessing property suspected of having been used in connection with a drug offence.

He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on July 27.
