CONSTRUCTION on a new police station being built in the city’s north has started and will be fully operational by February 2022.
The $6 million Pimpama Police Station will have 36 police officers and will operate 24 hours a day.
The station will be co-located with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) on a block of land at the corner of Cox and Yawalpah roads.
Police Minister Mark Ryan said 10 officers would be stationed at Coomera from next month to boost resources on the northern Gold Coast and would join Pimpama Station once built.

“This is an exciting investment in the community here on the Gold Coast,” Mr Ryan said.
“It’s exciting for Queensland Police and I know that this extra resourcing will be well received by the community.”
Queensland Police Service (QPS) Commissioner Katarina Carroll said the new 24-hour facility would provide contemporary accommodation to meet current and future operational policing needs.
“The facility will have a public counter and foyer area, detainee holding cells, storage facilities, interview rooms and provide accommodation for operational staff,” Commissioner Carroll said.
“Importantly, it will provide general duty policing functions, and cater for Criminal Investigation Branch and Child Protection Investigation Unit detectives.
“The facility is necessary to meet the policing needs of the growing population in Pimpama and the surrounding region.
“This facility will provide for an increase in service delivery and support our overriding objective of keeping the community safe.”
New 24hr Pimpama Police Station will be ‘fully operational’ by early 2022
April 30, 2021
A NEW police station fast-tracked for the Gold Coast’s northern suburbs will now be completed before the end of next year.
The $6m Pimpama police facility, originally slated for completion in 2022, is now scheduled for November 2021.
Police Minister Mark Ryan made the announcement at the Cox Road site on Friday morning.
He said the decision was part of making sure police have “appropriate resources” in the Glitter Strip’s fastest growing areas.
“It means we can have police on the ground here sooner,” he said.
“The reason (the Government) made a commitment to increase the number of police was for reasons like we’re building new facilities.
“Over the next few years there’s a couple hundred extra police still to come online.
“The commissioner makes decisions as to where those police will be deployed, but ultimately the growth will be used to support staff at those facilities.”

“These officers will be used to staff these new facilities.”
Construction will begin in coming months.
Gold Coast Chief Superintendent Mark Wheeler said it will be a 24-hour facility with “partner agencies” also based on-site.

“We’ve very deliberately in the design made sure we have offices available for Youth Justice, Queensland Health, education, probation and parole, and any other agencies we do business with,” he said.
