FIVE men wound up in hospital overnight after a wild brawl broke out on a bus taking them home from their work Christmas party on the Gold Coast.

Queensland Police and Queensland Ambulance officers were called to the entrance of the Gold Coast Turf Club on Racecourse Drive late yesterday afternoon after several reports of a fight, which had broken out on a bus.

It is understood witnesses saw one man rubbing another man’s head before the brawl kicked off.

Shortly after 5.30pm on Saturday, paramedics, including critical and high care units, took a man aged in his 20s to hospital after he suffered a head injury.
Another man aged in his 20s also was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with facial injuries.

Three other men, including a man in his 60s, who was suffering chest pains, a 50s who had minor facial injuries and another male patient, all wound up in hospital after the night out.
All men were transported in stable conditions.

Gold Coast Turf Club chief executive Steve Lines said the incident occurred on the bus, which was attached to a private function, but spilt out into the jockey carpark as the group were leaving the venue.

He said on-site police and security guards attended the scene straight away and the incident was under control quickly.
