A MAN who stabbed his neighbour during a fight has given the thumbs while walking from court after receiving a suspended sentence.
Brandon Walker-West, 21, was sentenced in the Southport District Court this morning to two years prison wholly suspended.
He had pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding.
Walker-West was involved in a heated argument with a neighbour outside their Palm Beach unit on February 3, last year.
Walker-West and his girlfriend were both punched by a woman and her daughter soon came out with a frying pan.
The teenager went inside and grabbed a knife and came out threatening the woman and her daughter.
The younger woman lunged at him with the knife and Walker-West swung, stabbing the woman in the chest.

The woman was taken to hospital with a cut to her liver and a 3cm wound.
“I’m very concerned that you went back to the unit and obtained a knife which is an implement which can cause injury, even death,” Judge Katherine McGinness said.
The sentence began in March this year but was adjourned so Walker-West could complete anger management counselling.
Walker-West told the court he would continue to undergo counselling.
