A Gold Coast man charged over his alleged role in an intrastate drug supply and trafficking operation will face the Supreme Court in the new year.
Steven John Davies was brought up from the watch-house to face Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday over charges of trafficking, producing and possessing a dangerous drug.
The court was told the 44-year-old’s charges related to the importation of the precursor 3, 4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine which is used in the production of the party drug MDMA.
Two detectives from the Queensland Police Service were cross examined at the hearing by defence lawyers representing Mr Davies and his co accused, Tyler John Cookson-Davies and Sean Andrew White.
At the completion of giving evidence, Mr Davies wasn’t required to enter a plea to the charges and chose not to address the court before his case was adjourned to face a committal hearing in Brisbane Supreme Court next year. He was remanded in custody.
Mr Davies was one of five people arrested as part of Strike Force Culti in June, following a series of raids at properties across Queensland and New South Wales in which police allege they seized quantities of drugs, cash and weapons.
It followed an investigation which began in March 2023 when Australian Border Force (ABF) officers in Queensland examined packages allegedly found to contain about 50 kilograms of an MDMA precursor.
