A mother accused of murdering her daughter in the family’s Gold Coast home has had her prosecution suspended, a court has been told.
Ying Ying Xu, 46, is charged with murdering her 10-year-old daughter Sophie Wang at the family’s Emerald Lakes home on August 13.
She has been remanded in custody and wasn’t required to appear when her case was mentioned in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
The court was told a psychiatric report conducted on Xu had recommended the case be referred to the mental health court.
Her solicitor, Daniel McShane, said the prosecution against his client had been suspended pending a decision on the report’s recommendation.
The case was adjourned to March 28. Xu will remain in custody.
