A Gold Coast dad has been slammed as "stupid in the extreme” after filming himself speeding at almost 300km/h and performing stunts on his motorbike on the M1.

Police searched Ryan John Dymond’s Upper Coomera home in January, seizing a GoPro among several other items.

Documents tendered in Southport Magistrates Court reveal footage from between 5.20am and 5.50am on December 30 last year showed Dymond’s blue Yamaha motorcycle speeding along the M1 near Ormeau at a shocking 299km/h.

Another nine videos depicted the motorbike speeding along the northern stretch of the motorway in excess of 200km/h and performing wheel stands.

The 30-year-old’s dangerous antics had grabbed police attention earlier on December 22, when he was seen speeding and performing stunts or weaving around other vehicles on the M1.

Court documents stated Dymond was remorseful and compliant when he later spoke with police, telling officers he took early morning rides to clear his mind while dealing with “personal issues” and planned to sell the motorbike if he got it back.

The vehicle was impounded for 90 days, the court was told.

Defence solicitor David Neuendorf said his client was a successful competitive motorbike rider in his youth and had not owned a bike for five or six years before buying the Yamaha.

Mr Neuendorf said it was an impulsive purchase made while the concreter was struggling with not having seen his children in months following the breakdown of his relationship with their mother.

“On my client’s instructions, he hopped on the motorbike and would instantly feel better – essentially, I’m instructed, blowing off steam,” Mr Neuendorf said.

“He’s here before the court today for his foolish, reckless actions and I don’t try to trivialise any of these matters.

“He accepts there are no excuses whatsoever for his actions (and) he’s remorseful and embarrassed for what he’s done.”

Magistrate Pamela Dowse slammed the father of two’s “arrogant” conduct, though said she accepted he was an experienced rider with no history of hooning or similar offending.

“I just think it’s disgusting – stupid in the extreme,” she said.

Dymond pleaded guilty to two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle involving excessively speeding or taking part in an unlawful race or unlawful speed trial.

He was fined $7000 and disqualified for six months on each charge. No conviction was recorded.
