Road report: Emergency services respond to crashes across the Gold Coast

A 22-year-old P-plater was taken into custody after smashing into vehicles parked on affluent Tedder Ave, one of multiple serious crashes on the Gold Coast. Read the full details.

Emergency services responded to multiple crashes at the weekend, with police alleging a drink driver was at fault of at least one.

Drug utensils, knives allegedly found at scene of Tedder Ave crash

Police allege knives and drug paraphernalia were found in a P-plater’s car after he allegedly crashed into a van parked on an affluent Gold Coast street.

Emergency services were called to a Tedder Ave, Main Beach address at 3.40am on Saturday morning after the 22-year-old man allegedly lost control of his car.

“It will be alleged that around 3.50am, a 22-year-old man was driving north on Tedder Ave, when he has crashed into a parked vehicle, which was then pushed into a third parked vehicle,” a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.

“The two parked cars were unoccupied at the time.”

The QPS spokeswoman said the driver’s car and the first parked car, a Terry’s Locksmiths van, were badly damaged, while the third car had minor damage.

“The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital citing chest pain,” the QPS spokeswoman said.

“It will be alleged that officers located drug paraphernalia and knives in his vehicle.”

Director of Terry’s Locksmiths, Jim Noort, said he attended the scene of the accident in the early hours of Saturday morning to check the damage to his vehicle.

He said he thinks Tedder Ave needs some form of traffic calming.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a man with chest and abdominal injuries was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The 22-year-old man has not yet been charged.

Alleged drink driver charged after slamming into power pole

A 31-year-old Coomera man has been charged with drink driving after his car slammed into a power pole at the Gold Coast on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on Sudbury Dr, Pimpama at about 3.15am on February 2 after reports a car had slammed into a power pole, a QPS spokeswoman said.

The alleged driver, a 31-year-old Coomera man, tested positive to a breath test and has been charged with one count of did drive U.I.L. (Under Influence Liquor),” the QPS spokeswoman said.

“He is expected to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on February 21.”

Police allege the man returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.195.

A QAS spokeswoman said the man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital after the incident.

Car rolls into temporary fence at Southport

A woman was rushed to hospital after a car rolled at Southport on Monday morning.
Emergency services were called to the incident on the corner of Marine Pde and Nerang St at 4.57am on February 3, a QAS spokeswoman said.

A woman was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition after the incident.

A QPS spokesman said the car left the road and crashed into temporary fencing at Broadwater Parklands.

He said the woman was taken to hospital for blood tests, and police were waiting for those results before they decide whether any action would be taken.

Lower Beechmont motorcycle crash

In the early hours of Monday morning, a motorcyclist was rushed to hospital with possibly life-threatening injuries after crashing into a tree branch.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on Beechmont Rd, Lower Beechmont just after 5am on February 3.

A QAS spokeswoman said a man in his 50s was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with possible life-threatening chest and abdominal injuries after the single-motorcycle incident.

A QPS spokeswoman said the man reportedly collided with a tree branch.

Coomera motorbike crash

Emergency services were called to another single-motorcycle crash at 11.31pm on February 1, which left a man in his 20s with a significant arm injury, a QAS spokeswoman said.

The man was taken to Gold Coast university hospital in a stable condition after the incident on the Pacific Motorway southbound near exit 54 at Coomera.

A QPS spokeswoman said the crash only involved one motorcycle, and only injured the rider, a 23-year-old Pimpama man.
