Queensland Police investigating sudden death of girl, 12, in Coomera home on Gold Coast

The death of a girl in a northern Gold Coast home has resulted in an investigation by the Child Protection and Investigation Unit.

A distraught mother has found her young daughter unresponsive in their Gold Coast home before the girl was declared dead, triggering a police investigation.

Gold Coast police were called to the Coomera home about 8pm on Monday.

The 12-year-old girl had been “found unresponsive” and she was later declared dead, according to a Queensland Police statement.

Police believe the girl suffered from a number of “health conditions”.

A post-mortem will be carried out on Wednesday.

Police have established a crime scene at the residence in the northern Coast suburb.

It’s understood the girl was found by her mother in an unresponsive state.

The Child Protection and Investigation Unit has launched investigations.
