Police find drugs, gel blasters in crashed car on the Gold Coast

March 7: Police are investigating after replica firearms and drugs were found in a crashed car on the Gold Coast overnight.

Police say the Madza 3 crashed after attempting to turn left into Waterways Dr at Main Beach about 1.15am Monday.

Authorities who attended the crash “observed the driver to be affect(ed) by a substance” and searched the vehicle, police said.

Police found prescription drugs, cannabis, three gel blaster type firearms, a replica handgun and a handheld taser.

The man, 18, was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Stolen vehicle crash

March 7: A group is on the run after fleeing a crash involving a suspected stolen vehicle.

Police say a suspected stolen black Commodore “spun out” and hit a power pole at the intersection of Arthur Way an Eggersdorf Rd at Ormeau just before 4.30am.

A number of males fled the vehicle which was left abandoned at the scene.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Chemist break in

March 7: Police are investigating a break in at a chemist at Burleigh Waters, early on Monday.

Authorities received reports of two offenders smashing a glass shop front to gain entry to a Santa Maria Court business just before 4.30am.

A quantity of property was stolen before they left the scene in a dark hatchback type vehicle, police said.

Investigations are ongoing.

Thieves chased after break in

March 7: A Runaway Bay man has given chase and crashed his car into the two men who broke into his home.

Police are investigating the break and enter and a linked traffic incident from early Friday morning.

Around 5am the occupants of two stolen vehicles were disturbed during a break and enter at a Limetree Parade home, according to preliminary information.

The men fled in a Holden Utility and a Mercedes Benz, which had both been stolen from different addresses.

The resident gave chase in his Landrover.

The cars then collided into each other on Sundance Way. Police say its unclear how this occurred.

A third vehicle which appears to be linked to the stolen vehicles arrived at the scene and then fled with the two men.

The stolen Mercedes and the stolen ute were left behind. No one was injured.

Police investigations are continuing.
