A police search is underway for two people who allegedly left the scene after a woman was hit with a car that rammed the gate of an underground carpark in Surfers Paradise.
Emergency services were called to Trickett Gardens Holiday Inn on Trickett Street around 2.40pm on Tuesday following reports of a woman being struck by a vehicle.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said it is believed the two people had allegedly gained access to a room at the address and when confronted left the scene in a Honda Jazz.
Chief superintendent Craig Hanlon said residents approached the vehicle out of concern for the behaviour of the people in the vehicle and how they were driving.
The driver then allegedly rammed through the gate of the underground carpark and hit a 52-year-old woman, who was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.
Chief superintendent Hanlon said the woman was expected to make a full recovery, despite suffering an injury to her skull.
Upon exiting, it is alleged the car crashed into a Mercedes-Benz C200 and a Mitsubishi Mirage before it was later found dumped by police at around 6.30pm Tuesday near Days and Abraham Roads in Coomera.
Superintendent Hanlon said police believe the car was stolen.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said another patient was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital suffering with distress.
Investigations into the incident were ongoing.
“We ask any people who were around the area at the time who might have seen something or had a description of people driving the vehicle if they could ring us,” Superintendent Hanlon said.
“That might be that piece of the puzzle that we need to identify these people and bring them to justice.”
Police are appealing for anyone who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
