Man in his 20s hospitalised after slamming into three parked cars and rolling his vehicle

Multiple parked cars have been severely damaged and a vehicle has ended up on its roof in a chaotic accident outside one of the Gold Coast’s busiest shopping centres.

Three cars have been badly damaged and a man has been hospitalised after a single vehicle crash near a busy Gold Coast shopping centre.

The driver, in his 20s, was heading North on Oxley Drive about 4.50am on Sunday morning when his vehicle veered from the road and ploughed into the parked cars.

The impact shattered two windows on one of the vehicles and shunted it more than a metre.

The man’s vehicle flipped during the crash and landed on its roof near Harbour Keys Drive at Runaway Bay.

It left a trail of debris and broken glass across the roadway.

One of the parked cars was shunted more than a metre from the impact.

The driver managed to free himself from the mangled wreck before emergency services arrived on scene.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the driver didn’t show any obvious signs of injuries when he was checked by paramedics but was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The crash is being investigated by police and officers are expecting to interview the driver later today. He will have to undergo mandatory testing.

The accident happened about 400 metres from Harbour Town shopping centre. Anyone with dashcam footage or who may have witnessed the crash are urged to contact police.
