Man and teenage boy arrested after dangerously driving alleged stolen car through Broadbeach Waters

A man and teen have been arrested after taking an allegedly stolen car on a joy ride through the Gold Coast in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A man and teen have been arrested after taking an allegedly stolen car on a joy ride through the Gold Coast in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At about 1am on Friday morning police saw an allegedly stolen blue 2005 Honda Accord hooning along Smith Street in Southport.

The car was allegedly stolen from a Merrimac Boulevard, Broadbeach address on Thursday morning.

Police tracked the car from Southport to Surfers Paradise.

Officers deployed two tyre deflation devices on the Gold Coast Highway near Ferny Ave around 1.20am.

Police allege the driver continued to try and escape police at a “rolling” speed before officers created a barricade to stop the car.

The officers arrested an man and a teenage boy.

Luckily no one was injured, however two police cars had minor scratches.

Investigations are ongoing.
