Police on the Gold Coast have found almost $5 million worth of methylamphetamine allegedly wrapped in tea packets in the back of a car.
Around 7.30pm on Monday detectives from the Crime and Intelligence Command, Drug and Serious Crime Group stopped a Toyota Rav 4 on the Pacific Motorway at Mudgeeraba.
It will be alleged police located two large sports bags containing 35 bags of methylamphetamine concealed in packages to look like imported tea.
Police say that approximately 35 kilograms of methylamphetamine was seized in total, with an estimated street value of $4,725,000.
A 41-year-old woman was allegedly the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.
Jemma-Lee Sales has since been charged with trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, and possessing property used in connection with the commission of a crime.
She was remanded in custody after appearing in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Her case is due to return to court on Friday.
Police said that after further investigations a search warrant was executed at a house in Eagleby where they allegedly found a large amount of cash and one kilogram of cannabis.
A 44-year-old Eagleby man has been charged with possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property obtained from proceeds, possession of things used and possess utensil. He was issued a notice to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on April 8.
