AN accused Comanchero bikie associate who allegedly stormed a Gold Coast property in a violent home invasion has been granted bail.

Josiah Lea, 19, is accused of being armed with a handgun when he and others allegedly entered a Southport property on October 15 last year. He is charged with robbery with violence and enter dwelling with intent.

The Southport Magistrates Court was told on Tuesday during Lea’s application for bail that one of his co-accused allegedly put a gun to the woman’s head.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Paige Barrow argued Lea posed a risk if released.

“We are dealing with someone who has committed a home invasion with numerous defendants,” she alleged in court.

“Three of those offenders were armed with a firearm, including the defendant. He had a handgun.

“One of the offenders put a gun to the victim’s head.”

The alleged victim, a woman 24, was home alone at the time, the court heard.

Sgt Barrow said police had “substantial evidence” to suggest Lea was linked to the Comancheros and “that this was an incident driven by” the club.

“We found some T-shirts at his home with Comanchero paraphernalia,” Sgt Barrow said.

“We were also advised by his immediate family members that he’s a member of the Comancheros and, in fact, they believe that he was about to become a patched member.”

The court was told Lea had been in custody for six months.

Magistrate Pamela Dowse labelled the allegations as a “horrific offence”.

She granted Lea bail with strict conditions, including that he reside with his family in Logan, only leave home for work, court and to report to police daily, and that he not have any contact with his co-accused or any members of bikie clubs. He was also banned from the Gold Coast.

“I can tell you Mr Lea, I don’t want to give you bail. You just put one fingernail out of place and you see what happens to you,” she told him.

Earlier, his lawyer argued he could be released with strict conditions.

“The court could have some comfort that risk is reduced by the impact of Mr Lea having to spend his first time in custody for the offending before the court,” she said.

“I’m instructed that this period of remand has brought home to him the very serious nature of the matters before the court and how important it is to ensure compliance with bail.”

The matter was adjourned to April 21.
