A Gold Coast police officer has been charged over allegedly assaulting a man earlier this year.
The 38-year-old constable has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm over an incident which occurred at Clear Island Waters on July 26 while he was off-duty.
A 31-year-old-man, who was not known to the accused officer, received non-life threatening injuries.
The issue was reported to the police service.
The officer has been stood down with pay and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on October 9.
“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when a member of the Service faces serious allegations of misconduct,” a statement issued by the police service said.
“This does not mean that the allegations against the member have been substantiated.”
