A Gold Coast man has been slapped with a hefty fine for failing to follow Covid-19 home quarantine conditions. This is what police say the penalty was issued for.

A SOUTHPORT man has been slapped with a hefty fine for failing to follow Covid-19 home quarantine conditions, including staying inside and maintaining contact with authorities.

It comes as Queensland Police warns Gold Coast residents officers have been conducting compliance checks and anyone in quarantine must abide by their obligations.

Queensland Police stated the Coast man admitted to leaving his residence “on several occasions”.

“The 36-year-old man, who was subject to home quarantine conditions under the Public Health Direction, was uncontactable and failing to respond to authorities, prompting police to make follow-up inquiries,” a statement read.

“The man was not at his listed Southport residence when police conducted compliance checks on Tuesday, November 23.

“He was located on Wednesday where he was fined $1334 for failing to comply with the Public Health Direction and directed into hotel quarantine.”

“People undertaking home quarantine must not leave their specified residence for the duration of their quarantine period and respond to phone calls and text messages as part of the home check-in program.”

Police have conducted more than 330 home quarantine checks since the new system began on November 15 and most people have been fully compliant.

By the morning of November 23, a total 4827 home quarantine border passes to enter Queensland from a declared domestic hot spot had been processed.

Police arrest four people after hour long pursuit on the Coast

November 23: Police have arrested four people, including a 17-year-old after an hour long pursuit, involving POLAIR, through Labrador on Tuesday afternoon.

A Gold Coast police spokesperson said POLAIR assisted them in following a stolen vehicle through the streets of Paradise Point and Labrador.

The spokesperson said Police tried to stop the car but they were refusing to pullover.

It was originally spotted along the Esplanade in Paradise Point at 2:10pm and was stopped at Kingsley Street in Labrador.

Police took a 17-year-old man into custody at 3:15pm and the three others were arrested at 3:30pm
