THE WOMAN allegedly stabbed on the Gold Coast on Tuesday night has been identified as healthcare worker Aóife Waugh.
The 21-year-old works for MMT care and was allegedly stabbed by one of her patients.
A Southport woman, 28, was charged with grievous bodily harm following the incident.
Officers were called to the former Commonwealth Games Village on Clarke St at Southport about 8.15pm on Tuesday “after a 21-year-old woman sustained an injury to her abdomen”, Gold Coast police stated.
Ms Waugh is at the Gold Coast University Hospital recovering from the incident.
A post on Marymount College, Burleigh Waters Alumni Facebook page asked for prayers from members.
“Aoife Waugh (2016) was a victim of a stabbing in her role as a health care worker and is in a stable condition in hospital,” the post said.
“She is currently in Gold Coast University Hospital sustaining three stab wounds, including one to the heart.
“The family has asked that this news be shared with the Marymount community and would greatly appreciate it if you would keep Aoife in your thoughts and prayers.”

POLICE have charged a Southport woman with grievous bodily harm after she allegedly stabbed a younger woman with a knife on the Gold Coast, leaving her critically injured.
Officers were called to the former Commonwealth Games Village on Clarke St at Southport about 8.15pm on Tuesday “after a 21-year-old woman sustained an injury to her abdomen”, Gold Coast police stated.
Queensland Ambulance paramedics took the 21-year-old woman to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the woman was in a critical condition when she was taken to hospital.
Police advised the woman was in a stable condition after undergoing emergency surgery.
Officers have charged a Southport woman, 28, with grievous bodily harm.
She was expected to face Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
