A GOLD Coast man has been charged after border checkpoint police allegedly found
a large quantity of the drug ice in his car.
Police said the vehicle was stopped at the M1 border checkpoint just before 8am on Tuesday.
The driver allegedly returned a positive roadside drug test and police searched his vehicle.
Police said officers allegedly found 236.4 grams of a substance, believed to be crystal methamphetamine, hidden behind carpet on the passenger side footwell.
Police also found $1800 in the car.
A 40-year-old man from Hope Island has been charged with possess a dangerous drug (major), possess property suspected of being proceeds of a drug crime, possess dangerous drug and possess utensil.
The man is due to reappear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
