YOUNG thieves taunted two tradies after stealing a work ute and wallets, sending a message saying “thanks for breakfast” after stopping at a Logan McDonald’s.

Tiler Shane Gray’s ute was stolen from his Walker Ave, Palm Beach home shortly before 4am on Friday October 15.

Next-door neighbour Adam Fisher had a wallet and air pods stolen.

Mr Gray said he discovered the identity of the thieves after a tip-off from someone who saw his appeals on social media and messaged them via Instagram.

“I found out who they were and I started following them,” he said. “Then I got a message from them laughing at my (Instagram) story.”

More messages followed – including the one about their Maccas meal.

“On Instagram they were saying, ‘who paid for our breakfast this morning, what’s your name?’,” he said.

“They said, ‘thanks for breakfast’.”

Aware he knew their identities, Mr Gray eventually convinced the thieves to abandon his vehicle, a 2019 Nissan Navara, which they left opposite the train station in Loganlea.

“Thanks for breakfast” the alleged thieves said.

They told Mr Gray they “cleaned” his car before leaving it, but the reality of what he found inside could not have been more different.

“There were cigarettes, joints, a plate with what looked like chopped up weed, tobacco,” he said. “The was Macca’s wrappers, a lighter. There was a cake, all over the back of the car, with a scissors in it. Cigarette burns in the upholstery.”

The outside of the ute was also badly damaged.

“They crashed the back right and front left,” he said.

To add insult to injury, Mr Gray’s partner Amanda also had her car damaged – it was hit as the thieves sped away from their house.

For his part, Mr Fisher lost hundred of dollars before he was able to cancel the cards in his wallet.

The two neighbours believe the same gang seen driving a stolen Range Rover at high speed on the M1 in video exclusively revealed by the Bulletin on Saturday was responsible for taking their property,

Mr Fisher said he feared that unless something was done to stop such robberies happening, someone would get hurt.

“The thing is, 15-year-olds driving a car at 200km/h is pretty dangerous,” he said. “Someone’s going to get killed.”

Police told the Bulletin that no arrests had been made in connection with the theft of Mr Gray’s ute or Mr Fisher’s property. Investigations are ongoing.
