Seven Gold Coast businesses ram raided and broken into within 70 minutes

Police are probing break and enters at seven service stations in seven different suburbs across the Gold Coast in a wild 70-minute crime spree citywide.

The violent break-ins occurred between 1.50am and 3am at petrol stations in Bundall, Ashmore, Molendinar, Upper Coomera, Southport, Helensvale and Burleigh Waters, a Queensland Police Service statement said.

According to police sources, the power has been cut to disable CCTV and security systems before the buildings were smashed into.

Following the rampage overnight on Tuesday, police released CCTV of one man they want to speak with after the spate of incidents.

Addressing the media a short time later to issue a public appeal for information, Detective Senior Sergeant Mick Corby said it was still unclear how many crimes had been committed by the same people.

“There’s been some service stations broken into primarily. In some cases there has been a safe stolen, in another case it’s cigarettes and tools,” Senior Sergeant Corby said.

“The businesses being targeted are not open at the time the break-ins occur.”

Police say the group had been using a stolen Nissan Navara. It was found torched near Logan. Police believe the culprits have been using stolen plates on the vehicles to avoid detection. Anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle or break-ins is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
