Four youths, one as young as 12-years-old, have been arrested after allegedly taking a stolen car on a joy ride from Brisbane to the Gold Coast.
Gold Coast police received a report of an alleged stolen car which was being driven through the streets of Auchenflower in Brisbane on Wednesday.
It was alleged the white Mazda CX-9 was stolen from Burrell Ave in Eumundi on May 9.
Police and Polair tracked the car from Brisbane, down to the Gold Coast and into Robina.
Police deployed a tyre deflation device and the car stopped on Glenside Drive in Robina around 8.30pm.
Police allege a 17-year-old boy, 12-year-old boy, 13-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy fled the car on foot before being arrested nearby.
Robina residents heard the helicopter hovering over the suburb and saw more than eight police cars.
One resident said on a Facebook community page “just a usual night in Robina”.
“Oh dear, at least they got them but sadly (they) will be back out doing it all again in a few days time,” Briankaren Whelan commented.
The youths were all charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and are due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court at a later date.
Investigations are ongoing.
