A man who allegedly doused a Gold Coast home with petrol and threatened to set it alight – sending the street into lockdown – has been committed to stand trial.

Dominic James Bohl appeared in Southport Magistrates Court via videolink this week. He is charged with endangering particular property by fire, threatening violence, enter dwelling and commit, and wilful damage.

Police were called to a home on Maudsland Rd at Oxenford at about 1.30am on January 19, following reports a man was making threats to people inside the home.

Mr Bohl allegedly poured fuel over the floor and threatened to burn the house and its occupants, the court was told this week.

He is also charged with damaging a Nintendo Switch console and headphones.

It was reported at the time that police locked down the street and made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act due to the smell of petrol fumes, but had reopened the street by about 1.50am.

Mr Bohl has been in custody since his arrest.

The 31-year-old said only, “No,” when asked by Acting Magistrate Sarah Thompson if he had anything to say in answer to the charges.

His case was committed for trial in Southport District Court. It will be mentioned in the coming weeks.
