A Runaway Bay man who did burnouts in his Ford ute at a Gold Coast park before being taken down by a police dog has learnt his fate in court.

A Runaway Bay man who did burnouts in his Ford ute at a Gold Coast park before being taken down by a police dog has lost his licence for nine months.

Zachary Forbes, 29, pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday to a raft of charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, wilful damage and possessing dangerous drugs. 

He was sentenced to a suspended nine-month term of imprisonment and disqualified from driving for nine months.

The carpenter was arrested and charged after an incident at Broadbeach’s Kurrawa Park about 1.40am on August 25 last year. 

Police were called after a Gold Coast City Council safety camera worker spotted a ute doing burnouts on the grassed area of the park.

Police said the ute continued to be driven dangerously around the park before it stalled and came to a stop. 

Forbes was then taken down by a police dog and arrested. 

The arrest was captured on police body-worn cameras.
