An alleged Comanchero bikie fronting court over an attack on a man in a hospital emergency department on the Gold Coast will remain in custody after his matter was adjourned.

Taskforce Maxima detectives tracked down and arrested Dion Spizzirri, 41, an alleged outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) member, after the incident on Monday at 2.30am.

Police will allege the 41-year-old walked up to a 45-year-old man and bashed him in the emergency department at Gold Coast University Hospital.

The men were not known to one another, police say.

Police will allege Spizzirri then left the hospital prior to police arriving.

It will be further alleged he then attended a residence in Maudsland and removed an electronic monitoring device shortly before 8am.

Spizzirri was not at that residence but was tracked down later on Monday at about 1.30pm in Caloundra where he was arrested without incident.

He was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, breach of bail, wilful damage, unlicenced driving and fail to provide a specimen of breath.

Spizzirri was refused bail and appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.

His lawyer Nathan Hounsell of Brisbane’s Hounsell Cunningham Defence Laywers told the court his client wished to enter guilty pleas to all charges.

But police prosecutor Mick Ruddiman said he opposed the matter being finalised on the same day and wished to add an extra charge of breach of bail.

The court was told Spizzirri’s sole charge of breach of bail came from breaching his curfew and the wilful damage charge came from him removing a device attached to him.

Sergeant Ruddiman said the removal of the device should also serve as a breach of bail charge.

The matter was adjourned until Friday, January 27, where Spizzirri will return to Maroochydore Magistrates Court.

He will remain in custody until that date and no application for bail was made.
