Another of the eight charged in a police bust of an alleged cocaine trafficking operation has faced court - and is seeking electronic surveillance material.
Clinton Wade Andela, 61, of Broadbeach, is charged with possessing dangerous drugs, failing to provide access to electronic devices, and possessing property obtained from drug trafficking or supplying.
He appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday represented by lawyer Kristian Wan of Behlau Murakami Grant.
Mr Wan asked for an adjournment for his client to make an application to obtain electronic surveillance material from Queensland Police.
Andela’s bail was enlarged and he’ll reappear in Southport Magistrates Court on August 27.
Under Operation Victor Mosquito, detectives from the state’s Crime and Intelligence Command Organised Crime Gangs Group executed search warrants at properties across the Gold Coast earlier this month and charged eight people.
Searches were also carried out at the home of prominent restaurateurs Steven and Autumn Adams and their Broadbeach eateries Moo Moo and Blowfish.
Both appeared in court on Thursday - Mr Adams, 50, faces two counts each of supplying and possessing cocaine. Ms Adams, 45, faces nine counts of possessing cocaine. Neither face trafficking charges – and both are on bail with their matters adjourned.
Previously, Mr Adams has said they were both “very distressed to be caught up in something like this”.
“It’s not something we want to be involved or associated with. The subject of the investigation was not us or our businesses and anyone who knows us knows that isn’t us.”
Police allege cocaine, cash, and a BMW X5 were seized during Operation Victor Mosquito searches at Broadbeach, Burleigh Heads, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach Waters properties.
Mathew Ian Lalic, 35, Kirsty Wallbanks, 30, and Anthony James Hood, 60, have also been charged.
Police allege Mr Lalic trafficked the drug between October 4 last year and August 1, with his two co-accused involved for shorter periods within that time.
Mr Lalic allegedly supplied cocaine 13 times between May 19 and July 31, including eight times to Ms Adams and once each to Mr Adams and Mr Andela, according to court documents. Mr Hood is charged with seven supplies and Ms Wallbanks with two.
Mr Hood is also charged with possessing phentermine – an appetite suppressant – and cash suspected of being proceeds of an offence.
Jesse William Ward-Howard, 33, faces four counts of supplying cocaine and two of receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking or supplying.
Mr Ward-Howard is in custody. The rest were granted bail.
