A man has allegedly attacked his neighbour’s car with a sledgehammer in a violent suburban spat on the northern Gold Coast.

The two men, both aged in their 30s, were reportedly heard arguing at about 6pm on Wednesday outside an address on Malekula Rise, Pacific Pines.

Police will allege one of the men armed himself with a sledgehammer and smashed the windows of a vehicle parked nearby.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the vehicle belonged to the other male involved in the reported dispute.

Officers attended a home on Clipperton Chase shortly after the incident and spoke with a 36-year-old resident.

He has been charged with wilful damage and has been issued with a notice to appear at Southport Magistrates Court.

Police are still looking to speak with a 31-year-old man as part of their investigations.
