A Gold Coast teenager has allegedly threatened two boys with a ‘taser’ in a brazen armed robbery attempt in broad daylight at the weekend.
The two victims were riding their bikes near Explorer Way and Rushworth St, Worongary about 4.45pm on Saturday when a Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesman said they were approached by two teenagers.
“It is alleged one of the boys demanded property from the victims,” the QPS spokesman said.
“When nothing was handed over, he allegedly produced an electronic conductive device. The victims fled the area on their bikes and contacted police.”
While conducting patrols of the area officers came across two boys and conducted searches on them. It’s alleged one of the juveniles was found with an item “resembling” a taser, which was seized by police.
A 14-year-old boy from Highland Park has since been charged with one count of demanding property with menace/intent to steal.
He’ll face Southport Childrens Court on May 26.
