Attempted car robbery at theme park boss' Gold Coast home

Security camera footage has captured the moment a wannabe thief scaled the fence of a Village Roadshow theme park boss’ house and attempted to steal his cars.

The incident, which Bikash Randhawa says has left him shaken, occurred at 3.36am on Tuesday morning at his acreage property.

Police are now investigating the break-in, with detectives reviewing footage and checking the scene for forensics.

The Village Roadshow COO said he was furious that the bearded young man, who ran from the scene after security alarms disturbed him, was so brazen as to try and make-off with at least one of his family’s four vehicles.

“It’s just insane and something needs to happen,” he said.

“We have a full-on security system and I try and make it as secure as possible and it still didn’t stop this prick from getting in and doing what he did.

The man made no attempt to disguise his appearance.

“It’s quite scary and a really nasty feeling knowing someone is trying to get into your house.”

Mr Randhawa said he was woken by the sound of the alarms and immediately phoned police.

He said it was only the second time in the 14 years he had lived at the property that someone had attempted to break in.

Footage taken from Mr Randhawa’s garage camera shows the man, who was dressed in black but made no attempt to disguise his identify or wear gloves, running towards the cars and failing to get into a four-wheel-drive ute.

He has greater success with a black four-wheel drive but only sat in it for a few seconds before getting out and climbing into a silver hatchback when he was disturbed by the alarm and fled.

The whole incident lasted less than a minute.

Investigations are continuing.
