Ashley David Hill: Convicted child sex offender accused of failing to comply with reporting conditions
A Queensland child sex offender who promised to send explicit images of his child after its birth is back before the courts over alleged reporting offences.
An Ormeau Hills man previously convicted after he was found with over 6000 files of child abuse material is back before the courts for allegedly failing to comply with his reporting obligations as child sex offender.
Ashley David Hill, 34, appeared in the Southport Magistrates Court on December 1 facing seven counts of failing to comply with reporting.
Court documents alleged Mr Hill failed to comply with his reporting obligations by not alerting authorities to his use of various applications and internet accounts including encrypted app Brave, and social media sites Tiktok and Instagram.
In court, Mr Hill asked for his case to be adjourned while he seeks his lawyer’s services.
The matter was adjourned to January 2026, with Mr Hill currently out on bail.
In 2016, Mr Hill was sentenced at the Brisbane District Court to five years jail over a matter Judge David Reid described as one of the worst cases of child exploitation material he had ever seen.
Mr Hill pleaded guilty to five charges including using a carriage service to access child abuse material and possessing child abuse material.
It was reported at the time Mr Hill promised to send explicit images of his child after its birth to an undercover FBI agent, who was posing as a pedophile online.
Mr Hill had sent ultrasound images of his then-unborn child to the agent as proof he would go through with his disturbing promise.
Authorities raided Mr Hill’s Chermside home in 2015 following a tip off from the FBI where almost 6500 files of child abuse material were found.
Police also found Mr Hill has accessed more than 5000 child abuse images.
Mr Hill was eligible for parole after serving two and a half years behind bars.
