The 66-year-old was well known in the tight-knit community and lived onboard his white yacht, affectionately named ‘Mr Bean’ according to his friend Clive Henare.

“He’d cook amazing meals when he would visit,” Mr Henare said.

“Always smiling – loved reading books – very generous.

“He was a pretty quiet guy as well, very observant.”

Mr Henare said he befriended Mr Glover, who had fallen on hard times, welcoming him into his come and providing him with food and clothes.

“When we heard of his disappearance, myself, a client I work with, and my twin walked along the river – I guess in hopes of finding him,” Mr Henare said.

“I think the community are in shock and the local fishermen when they go out all keep an eye out.

“A lot of very sad people out there praying and hoping for the best.”

Mr Glover would often be seen rowing his dingy into the Jacobs Well boat ramp where he would go shopping or rest on the foreshore.

Mr Henare said that is where he saw his friend a week before he disappeared.

“His health deteriorated pretty fast.

“(He) could no longer talk and would write things down on paper and nod yes or no, he lost a lot of weight.

“Couldn’t really keep fluids down like a coffee or water – he would cough.”

A fortnight after Mr Glover vanished, the Queensland Police Service (QPS) issued a public appeal for his whereabouts.

He’s described as caucasian, about 175cm tall, proportional build, and has grey hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo on his upper left arm.

Officers have conducted water searches, scoured bushland on foot and have had a rescue chopper conducted aerial patrols.

A QPS spokesman said there have been no confirmed sightings of Tony Glover.

“Police and Volunteer Marine Rescue continue to conduct regular searches of the area” the QPS spokesman said.

“Unfortunately, there is no CCTV or dashcam vision available of the missing person.”
