A teenager who allegedly stole an eleven-ton rolling machine from a Gold Coast construction site, taking it on a destructive rampage, has been granted bail by police.
The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be identified due to legal reasons, faced Southport Childrens Court on Monday morning for a brief mention after being granted watchhouse bail.
He’s accused of taking the 2007 Caterpillar Drum Roller from a Coomera site about 1.40am on Saturday, driving it through a temporary construction fence, barrelling down a number of streets and smashing into several cars. The damage bills is estimated to be worth thousands of dollars.
The 11.4 ton behemoth came to rest in bushland on Seashell Ave where police arrested the 17-year-old Coomera boy.
He was charged with one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle and driving while over the no alcohol limit.
He is expected to front court again on November 20.
