The mystery of MH370 has fascinated the world for six years, with observers throwing up myriad explanations and the wildest of conspiracy theories.
But for the relatives of the six Australians on board and other passengers the agony of the unknown is all too real.
The relief when the first confirmed pieces of wreckage were found was short-lived when the search was called off with the plane’s final resting place still unknown.
Tony Abbott, who was Prime Minister when the flight went missing, tells Sky News documentary MH370 The Untold Story: “I don’t think anyone should rest until we have found that aircraft and those people.”
Jeanette Maguire, who lost her sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Bob Lawton, puts it more poignantly.
“Every morning I go out and I look up at the sky … and I always say, ‘Where are you Cath? Where are you Bob? Is today the day we are going to find you?’
“I know they want to come home. I know they don’t want to be where they are. They’re family people and they want their family to find them.”
