Tourist’s tradie-attire obsession goes viral on TikTok
A tourist has developed an unusual obsession with the tradie uniform after he spotted a high-vis shirt at Kmart.

A tourist from Singapore has gone viral after his fiance posted a TikTok about his love for the tradie uniform.
When tourists visit Australia for the first time they usually bag themselves a couple of Opera House fridge magnets, a toy kangaroo or a good ol‘ bucket hat with the Aussie flag on it.
But not this guy – he wanted a high-vis tradie shirt after spotting it at Kmart.
He became so obsessed with it, he wore it almost every day of his Aussie holiday last year — and this year when he and his partner visited again.
His fiance, Renae Cheng, shared a hilarious TikTok about his love for the fluoro attire which has clocked almost 1 million views in just four days.
“He unironically (sic) loves the Australian tradie uniform aesthetic,” Renae said in a clip alongside a photo of her partner proudly wearing an orange high-vis shirt after they returned to Singapore.
“He went to Australia for the first time last year and he fell in love with their neon orange tradie shirt when he saw it at Kmart.
“He started wearing it on the trip itself even though it was a short sleeve and it was wintertime.”
Renae said her fiance loved it so much, he wore it on their flight back to Singapore.
“An airport tradie staff saw it and said ‘nice fashion!’ My fiance giggled shyly but deep down he was elated.”
His love for the tradie shirt hasn’t ended, with Renae saying he’s still wearing it long after their trip Down Under.
“He continues wearing it in Singapore … this is him wearing it at Dim Sum Place and being matchy matchy with the wait staff lmao,” she wrote, sharing a picture of the two of them at a cafe.
He’s also turned up to her office in the shirt.
“We went to Aus again this year and he was surrounded by his faves,” she said, showing a photo of him in a dedicated tradie uniform store.
“This is like paradise for him lmao.”
The tradie-uniform lover managed to get himself a fluoro yellow shirt from Kmart for $8 to add to his collection.
Renae’s clip has unsurprisingly attracted thousands of comments from TikTok users in awe of his obsession.
“IM CRYING that’s so cute he’s just a lil tradie-core kinda guy,” one user wrote.
“Protect that man at all costs,” a second person joked, while a third added: “That is SO CUTE I want to show it to all the tradies! It’s fashun now,”
Another joked: “Nah that’s a hard worker right there give him a pack of durrys and a blue v.”
