A woman in Texas has gone viral on social media after a man allegedly hit her in the face with a brick after she refused to give him her number.
Posting her video to Instagram, the woman named Rho Bashe called out the group of men near her in a parking lot for not stepping up when she was allegedly attacked.
“Y’all, this man just hit me in my face with a brick, and all of these black men just watched. And they don’t give a f**k,” Ms Bashe said and pointed off-screen. “This man grabbed a rock and hit me in my f**king face because I wouldn’t give him my number.”
The men in the background asked her what she wanted them to do as she showed them the large swelling on her face.
“What do I want y’all to do? I want y’all to be a man and f**king do something,” she told them off, and the men continued to yell at her.
The video then switches to her crying and wearing a hospital gown as she receives treatment.
“What have I ever done to anyone in my life to deserve this? I never did anything in my life to hurt anybody,” Ms Bashe said.
“Literally the man asked me for my number and I said no. He picked up a brick in front of so many men and asked, ‘what are you going to do?’
“I told all of the men, ‘why does this man have a brick over my face?’ He’s holding a brick, and all of these [n-word] are watching and nobody does nothing. And he hits me in my face and they’re all just watching.”
Ms Bashe says that the man who allegedly assaulted her soon left the scene in a car, something she wasn’t happy about.
“How is this okay? Is this what y’all doing to women?”
In a final video, Ms Bashe revealed that she was diagnosed with a concussion after 12 hours in the hospital.
“I can’t even chew food for the next week … I’m so afraid, like why do people wanna hurt me so bad,” she said.
Many users across multiple social media platforms have condemned the men that stood by for not jumping in.
“I’m so disgusted by the men who didn’t even speak up for her, let alone defend or protect her. May her attacker reap what he’s sown,” one user wrote on Instagram.
“How in the world can you pick up a brick and [hit] a woman in the face. I’m just speechless,” another user wrote on TikTok.
