Thousands hit by Gmail outage around the world
People across the world are reporting the popular email service has gone down, but the true extent of the issue remains unclear.

Users of Google’s email system Gmail are reporting outages across the world.
The outage hit the service at around 5am AEST, with in the US, the UK, parts of Europe, Australia, Asia and South America reportedly impacted.
DownDetector, a site monitoring online tech issues, noted more than 5000 reports of Gmail being down in the US this morning.
In Australia, that mark was considerably less and stood at about 75 reports at 7am.
Gmail is one of the most popular email services worldwide with about 1.8 billion accounts.
It remains unclear how many people have been impacted by Friday morning’s outage.
The incident unfolded on Thursday afternoon in the US, in the peak of the workday.
“Google is aware of the issue,” the official Gmail account on X wrote.
