WARNING: Confronting.
The woman who was punched by an NYPD detective during a fracas in Harlem, New York reportedly shoved and slapped the cop before he hit her in the face, according to a compilation of bodycam recordings released by the department on Thursday.
The first clip, which was taken from the side and lasts just 19 seconds, shows Tamani Crum, 19, scuffling with Detective Kendo Kinsey before he knocks her to the footpath, the New York Post reports.
The second clip, which appears to come from Det Kinsey’s camera and lasts 60 seconds, shows him approaching the scene where the NYPD said cops were arresting Elvin James, 22, on an attempted murder charge at around 4.45pm.

As officers surrounded the handcuffed suspect, the video showed Ms Crum rushing up, shouting, “What’s the problem?”
Det Kinsey was then seen to attempt to grab Ms Crum’s left arm but she pulled free, after which he grabbed her again and yanked her away, the video shows.
“Don’t f***ing touch me,” Ms Crum was then heard yelling while shoving Det Kinsey with her right hand.
The video then showed Det Kinsey shove Ms Crum back by pushing against her throat with the crook of his hand, at which point she was seen to slap the officer.
“Get offa me!” she was heard saying.
The video then showed Det Kinsey respond with what appears to be a right cross, sending Ms Crum backwards – to the apparent astonishment of several bystanders.
In a statement accompanying the video compilation posted on YouTube, the NYPD said the incident took place while police from the 32nd Precinct were arresting someone who “was carrying in his waistband an illegal, loaded semiautomatic Polymer 80 handgun, known as a ghost gun.”
“During this encounter, a female acquaintance of this individual began to interfere with the arrest, including striking a detective,” the NYPD said.
“The detective fended off that interference and struck the woman with an open hand.”
The NYPD added: “This incident, including the conduct of the detective who used force, is under ongoing review by our Internal Affairs Bureau’s Force Group. All police body-worn camera footage, as well as other video surveillance from the area and witness statements, are being gathered and reviewed.”
The attempted murder allegation against Mr James is under investigation and he was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest, according to court records.
Mr James was also charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in connection with a bottle of 20 oxycodone pills allegedly found in a pocket of his pants, according to court records.
Ms Crum was charged with second-degree obstructing criminal administration, as was another woman, Faith Harrell, 27, who is also charged with second-degree assault and resisting arrest in an alleged attack on two other officers, Sgt Pablo Taveras and Officer Ryan Maldonado.
All three pleaded not guilty at their arraignments on Wednesday, with bail for Mr James set at $US300,000 ($A442,000), the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said.
DA Alvin Bragg’s Police Accountability Unit is also reviewing the incident, according to a spokesperson.
Ms Crum was released without bail and Ms Harrell was put on supervised release, the DA’s Office said.
Their defence lawyers didn’t immediately return requests for comment, and information about a third woman, who the NYPD said is 26 and was issued a summons for allegedly spitting at an officer, wasn’t immediately available.
