A tattoo-covered Sydney powerlifter, who likes to bombard his 250,000 Instagram followers with pictures of his tattoos, gym sessions, fast cars and gold chains, has admitting using steroids after police raided his home.

Hossein Balapour — known on social media as “Yakiboy” — posted a story on his Instagram page overnight, claiming his physique is the result of “90 per cent genetics and hard work”.

The claim comes after NSW Police raided the 29-year-old’s Waterloo home in April and charged him with six drug offences, relating to the possession of three different types of steroids.

In his story, however, Mr Balapour claims his steroid use is no secret.

“If police raid my house of (course they’re) going to find my personal cycle of steroids,” he wrote. “I never lied or denied using steroids.

“Most people at some stage have used steroids, peptides, human growth etc to enhance their body.

“But because it’s ME they make a big deal about it making it sound more (than) what it is.

“Let’s be realistic this Lamborghini body they said is made from ‘steroids’ is actually 90 per cent genetics and hard work … if it’s really from steroids everyone would have Lamborghini bodies.”

According to the Daily Mail, police allegedly found three different types of steroids in the form of 100 oxandrolone tablets, two methenolone vials and a vial of trenbolone at the powerlifter’s unit.

Describing himself as a “Muslim Shia soldier” and posting risqué naked pictures with just a cartoon pizza slice to cover his manhood, Mr Balapour likes to show off his diet and latest purchases with his thousands of followers.

However, last year his posts — which show off valuables such as a gold-plated Beretta handgun worth more than $1800, $180,000 luxury sedans and Versace bed sheets — drew ire from some of his more conservative religious followers.

Some even posted comments on pictures — saying his lifestyle is a contradiction to his Muslim faith.

They claimed that Balapour’s tattoos were “haram” — meaning they are forbidden in the Islamic faith.

“Tatooed (sic) alcohol and Muslim? I don’t think so,” one commenter wrote in response to one of Mr Balapour’s posts.

In retaliation to some of the comments, Mr Balapour shared a Snapchat message that he’d received from a “rubbish person” asking: “Are you ever scared that on the day of judgment allah (sic) will ask you about your tattoos?”

“F**k u,” Mr Balapour wrote in response. “Allah (God) watch my inside not like u and all the rubbish people judge anyone with eyes.”

Mr Balapour has previously had to fend off allegations he is a bikie because of his close friendship with gunned-down gangster Pasquale Barbaro — who was killed in an execution-style shooting on a suburban Sydney street in 2016.

Barbaro’s exploits in the Aussie underworld have been compared to that of fictional mobster Tony Soprano and Breaking Bad’s Walter White, as he was involved in exploding ice-cooking operations in rural NSW.

However, Mr Balapour released a statement on his Instagram page after people began talking about links between him and the slain bikie, who was connected to kidnap, firearms and bloody family love feuds.

In the post, he alleged that Barbaro was a “dog” or a police informant.

“My only regret in life was being friends with that dog Pasquale,” he wrote. “I didn’t know he was a dog and that’s why everyone in Australia hated his guts, including me.

“I’m not a bikie or with any group, I don’t have any issue with anyone, I’m a Muslim Shia soldier, always by myself.”

Mr Balapour is due to face court in Sydney later this month.
