The young men, both named Charles, have set the record straight after a clip of them went viral on social media.

Secret service gets grilled | From the Newsroom

Two Brisbane teenagers who were mocked online over claims of being “professional gamblers” have set the record straight with a cheeky response for their critics.

The young men, both called Charles, were interviewed in a street-talk video posted by the recruitment start up Getahead this week.

In the video the men are asked what their occupations are as part of an ongoing series of what people earn for work.

“We’re professional gamblers,” one responds.

“I reckon I’ve won about 50 grand in the last six months and probably spent five (thousand) to get it,” the other chips in.

'Pro gamblers' trolled over claims

The interviewer appears surprised as the men tell him they’re both 18, before asking them if they were in “negative” territory with their winnings.

“With him on the pokies, it’s different,” one says. The other quips: “they talk to me”.

They were asked what their go-to machines or games were, with the men saying they played the pokies, blackjack and baccarat and have got “better over time”

Later they were prompted to describe a typical day in the life of a pro gambler.

“Wake up, play golf, get a few beers going, go to the casino,” one of the men said.

“You know ‘work’ as we call it. Either a good day or a bad day it’s still work.”

The video attracted more than 250,000 views and some comments that were not too kind towards the pair.

“Unemployment final bosses,” one wrote, while another commented “professional unemployment”.

“18! Mates barely only enough to even be in the casino,” another said.

Others pointed out that $50,000 in six months was actually not a lot of money

“That’s only 2k a week bud,” one person commented.

“Nah sounds great now but eventually it’ll catch up to them,” another said.

But others appeared to cotton on that this might be a joke, with more than a few posting they thought the boys were “taking the piss”.

The young men started an Instagram page called ccgambling last month, where they post videos of their antics in the local casino.

One of the Charles’ responded to news.com.au admitting the $50,000 mark disclosed in the video was “blown up a bit”.

“Just to get people talking a bit but around the last 2-3 months we have probably made around 15-20k profit,” he said.

He also conceded the two Charles weren’t “serious yet” about being professional gamblers.

“It’s a bit of fun we aren’t full time or nothing we just film when we do and post it online and we’ve just been doing well these last few months so we’ve continued.”

He added they weren’t bothered by the reaction to the video, saying he found the comments “funny”.

“All our videos are us getting f**ked up and gambling we don’t really mind if people be taking sh*t.”
