Netflix coming to Australia on March 24

NETFLIX has finally announced when it will open up shop in Australia. But there is one big question it still will not answer.

Netflix coming to Australia

Netflix has finally told Australians when it’s opening shop with its local streaming service but it’s still refusing to come clean on the question everyone wants to know: how much will it cost.

The giant streaming video on demand service had previously said it would open up an Australian Netflix in March. This morning it pinned it down to March 24.

With Presto already announcing a deal for uncapped streaming on a Foxtel broadband package, Netflix followed suit by announcing an uncapped data deal with iiNet for the streaming content.

Optus is also offering its broadband customers an uncapped deal, with Netflix Australian content not counting as par of a customer’s data cap.

The Netflix announcement promised Australians would be able to keep up with the latest Netflix updates through social media, but so far the social media accounts are not offering much news.

The first tweet from the new Netflix ANZ account contained a test pattern image with the appeal to “please stand by”.

Netflix in Australia and New Zealand will lead its competitors in terms of the number of ways you can watch it.

From launch date, Netflix will be available on smart TVs by Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, Philips and HiSense, select Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft game consoles, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, and Apple and Android tablets and smartphones.

Netflix today said it would offer the Australian and New Zealand service in three packages: a single-stream standard definition plan, two-stream high-definition plan and four-stream 4K ultra-high definition “family” plan.

And if you want to know how much you’re going to pay for Netflix, you have to keep waiting. That information, Netflix says“will be available at launch”.
