Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has found love while looking in the mirror — but it’s not with himself.
The former world No. 13’s relationship with Sydneysider Costeen Hatzi has been laid bare on Instagram, with a mirror providing the spark for their relationship.
Ms Hatzi has told her almost 50,000 Instagram followers the story of how the pair met.
“He was apparently scrolling through Instagram and saw my business account post (a selfie of Ms Hatzi in the mirror),” she said.
“He messaged my business account asking if the mirror was available for pick-up and then messaged my personal (account) asking the same thing.”
The recently crowned Australian Open doubles champ tried to pick up something else — or more specifically, someone else — while picking up the mirror, as he confessed he was more interested in Ms Hatzi than the item itself.
“It was a professional/friendly conversation and then he came to pick up the mirror from Sydney,” Ms Hatzi said.
“I had no idea that was all a plan, I literally thought he was buying a mirror.
“He picked up the mirror and, as he would say, ‘it was love at first sight’.”
Ms Hatzi was regularly featured during Kyrgios’ Australian Open campaign with the pair kissing on the court and cuddling during his training sessions.
It was during this campaign where Australian fans threw some very loud support behind the Canberra firebrand.
His partnership with fellow Aussie, Adelaide-born Thanasi Kokkinakis, electrified audiences as the pair won their maiden slam.
During this time, Kyrgios was lively on social media, splashing cash on his new girlfriend and buying her high-end designer products.
This move prompted backlash from his former partner Chiara Passari.
She accused Kyrgios of “love bombing” both her and Ms Hatzi.
“Love bombing” refers to when a person showers a new partner with over-the-top demonstrations of attention and affection.
A follower of Ms Passari wrote, “Do you think you were a victim (of) love bombing?” and she replied, “And so the cycle repeats …” adding a handbag emoji.
