Surfers trialling to earn a spot at the Gold Coast Pro World Surf League Challenger Series event
Meet the Gold Coast surfers set to battle it out today for a spot in the World Surf League Challenger Series event that will begin on the Glitter Strip this weekend where the likes of Kelly Slater and Stephanie Gilmore await.

MEET the Glitter Strip set to battle it out today for a spot in the Gold Coast Pro World Surf League Challenger Series event.
The trials for the Pro are being held today at Snapper, with sixteen surfers in each of the male and female divisions set to take to the water to try and feature in a competition that will boast the likes of Kelly Slater and Stephanie Gilmore.
The male and female winners will gain entry into the main even,t where the window opens on Saturday, alongside Gold Coast Wildcards in Kobie Enright and Oscar Berry who have gained entry into the Pro.
Twenty-two of the 32 surfers in the trials event come from the Gold Coast with the other 10 coming from other areas.
“The competitors list for the upcoming Boost Mobile Gold Coast Pro Trials is an impressive
representation of the talented surfers the Gold Coast has produced,” said WSL Asia Pacific
General Manager Andrew Stark.
“Coming from local Gold Coast Boardriders Clubs, WSL Qualifying Series rankings and state rankings the list of talent on offer in the trials is extremely strong and reflective of the amazing talent the Gold Coast region has on offer. It’s fantastic to be able to offer so many opportunities to Gold Coast and Queensland surfers to have a shot to enter the main Challenger Series event and take on some of the very best surfers from all over the world”
