A FUNDRAISING page has been set up for Robert Croll who is in intensive care after a freak accident at Kirra beach on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old Burleigh father-of-two young boys Rafe, 2, and Bowie, five months, is the sole income for his young family and is now paralysed from the neck down.
The damage was done to two vertebrae in his neck.
He was found face down at Kirra by an off-duty paramedic and lifeguards about 9.30am before he was rushed to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
Speaking with the Bulletin Mr Croll’s wife Katie said the accident in the surf has turned their lives upside down.
“His body is just not functioning,” the loving wife and mother said.
“It’s awful our boy’s lives have been turned upside down.
“He broke his C5 and C6 bones in his neck and is paralysed from the neck down,” Mrs Croll said.
Mr Croll’s good friend Trent Rogash set up the fundraiser to help the family.
“If anyone can afford to donate it would be greatly appreciated,” he said.
“Robbo is one of my best mates, loved by family and friends who unfortunately has just suffered a severe injury.
“Please give generously and share with all of you family and friends.”
