James Cummings bagged four winners at Hawkesbury recent; y, how many can he win today?

INSIDE MAIL – WYONG

RACE 1

Victorine has raced twice; she drew 9 of 14 one day on a big at Rosehill then resumed with a closing third on the Kensington in a leader dominated race where she (Victorine) drew 8 of 9. You wouldn’t Wyong would be her track on those two runs but I suspect that from gate 3, if the opportunity presents, she might be ridden a fair bit closer. Ever Upward was $15 into $11 on debut at Scone and ran accordingly. Just has to go 900m to 1300m, that’s all. Bessmati is back to a provincial maiden from the Listed Pierro where she ran OK.

Bet: Victorine to win

RACE 2

Una Grew Roses is a superbly-bred daughter of Swiss Ace and Chinchilla Rose who has thrown a stakes-placed horse in NZ. As for ‘Una’ she was retained by Gerry Harvey and given to Stephen Jones. I could go on but best to get it from someone who knows (eyes right). Race experience is one of the things that Hasalake and mentalism have over Una Grew Roses and pretty decent race credentials too. I guess that separates those two is barriers; Hasalake is in 2 whereas Mentialism is posted out in 10 of 11.

RACE 3

Camino Real can add her name to the winning members of one of the great old Ingham/Woodlands now Darley families. All the breeding buffs need to know is that her grand-dam is the Vain mare Peach. As for more pertinent concerns, i/e. actual ability, you don’t have to look too far into Camino Real’s form to see how it measures up here at Wyong. Choix De La Mer trialled like a horse that had come back in good shape. Only lightly-raced and is obviously from a very good stable. Fielding has been blessed with the inside draw.

RACE 4

Definitely Maybe is a So You Think filly from the Matthew Smith stable who was heavily back (for good reason) when she debuted on the Beaumont track on Jan 31. She was given a great ride by Blake Spriggs that day – only beaten a nose at the end of the day so most people would take that as a win. Gary Moore has gifted Sing A Love Song the perfect opportunity to post a richly deserved first win. Last two have been fantastic and he’s drawn the right alley this time. The two Kiwi’s in the race, Sacred Stream and Ultimate Pride are players.

Bet: Definitely Maybe to win, quinella 7,9, box trifecta 7,9.11.12

RACE 5

Lekvarte could maybe be a bit of a dark horse for some of the good fillies races this autumn or winter depending on what happens in her opening couple of runs. She is certainly in the right stable to progress quickly and wow what a pedigree; Reliable Man filly – fifth dam is Toy Show. Market watch advised. Charity Spirit probably saved for tomorrow. That being the case, let us elevate the locally housed Alexeyeva who is in rare form. Stars do look to align for her today. To be honest, I can’t work out Pono Kitoro. She won like a world beater here on debut but I can’t say her trials have been as impressive.

Bet: Lekvarte to win

RACE 6

Prudish was $13 when she resumed in a 900m maiden at Newcastle on Jan 29. I didn’t find her but you just don’t see them win like that all that often. Last the 400m, she came down the outside and over the top of them and bolted in. Frankly, I am not game to go against her on that win, Wyong or not. Dark Herring is not a guaranteed starter which would bring Translation one rung up. The James Cummings trained filly has a neat enough C.V of 10 starts for a win and five placings. Ran second in a deep heat at Hawkesbury 14-days ago. Princess Of Meyden is as fast as anything and faster than most.

Bet: Prudish to win

RACE 7

Rebel County is a Dynamic Syndications gelding trained by Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou. They are certainly a merry band of owners (Gerry Harvey among them) given that the Baramul bred bay has won two of his three starts and was third at the other. Resumes today and does so of three very nice trials. Fenech is consistent and honest and well placed here at home and more so with the 3kgs claim for Patrick Scorse who gave him a good ride at Newcastle last start. Rumpshaker is flying! Stay Wealthy will be prominent.

Bet: Rebel County to win

RACE 8

Amortal was beaten by a long way of being disgraced when he was third at Hawkesbury last Tuesday. That ‘bronze’ followed his debut win which happened to be here at Wyong. Getting better with each run – experience-wise at least. First Peoples is another lightly-raced horse who has barely put a hoof wrong in his races. Drawn wide but has plenty of early speed/pace. Big watch on the Paul Messara trained Silver City who has drawn well and come back super.
