Likely to be the sole odds-on pop on the card and easy to see why as an easy last start winner at Wyong over 2100m 12-days ago.

Race 3, No.3: TEST THE WATERS
Testa Rossa gelding who was runner-up to Spellcatcher at Newcastle on November 23 which explains why nothing was got to beat him when he came here the start after.

Race 6, No.4: FICHEUR
Paul Perry-trained son of Dundeel whose last three runs have all been at Rosehill including in a Midway on December 4. Scone winner who needs to lift but can back to country grade.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR SCONE
RACE 1
On Bail is probably going to have the honour and distinction of being not only the shortest priced favourite on the card but also the only odds-on pop all day. That’s if he comes of course bearing in mind that we saw him nominated for a winnable race close to High Street on Thursday closer than Scone on Tuesday. Every other trainer in this race will be praying he is scratched. Borlotti has only won once in 20 starts and interestingly that was over 1106m and this is 2200m, You would have to say it is within his reach based on those two 1600m runs in the lead up. Dobbin probably ran just as well as Borlotti did at Tamworth.
Bet: On Bail to win, or of scratched it’s Borlotti to win and quinella 1,3
RACE 2
Lovemetender has raced nine times and always in better company than a country Class 1. How about a Gimcrack, Silver Shadow, Flight Stakes, Reginald Allen and three Midways. The frequently unlucky daughter of Testa Rossa is trained by John Ramsey here at Scone, not far from where she was born and will retire one day. Her trial was a beauty last week. Scone Yearling purchase American President comes off a confidence boosting win at Tuncurry last start. Make no mistake, he is better than a country horse - or will be anyway. Foxstorm’s second to Brave Enough reads well here.
Bet: Lovemetender to win, quinella 1,4
RACE 3
Test The Waters could make it a Testa Rossa race to race double if successful. The Damien Lane trained gelding ran two really nice races at Gosford and Newcastle to kick start the career then came to Scone 11-days ago and was just too good for them in a country grade maiden. Things to worry about here - one, barrier 12 and two, Still In Fashion. He’s the Paul Messara-trained Redoute’s Choice grandson of Elegant Fashion who has run six very, very good races; three of those here at home. Irresistible Miss and Tidal Rush are both lightly-raced and good enough to figure here at their home track.
Bet: Test The Waters to win, quinella 1,3
RACE 4
Lib Petanga seems to have an endless supply of well-bred fillies that go straight to Kris Lees - Lucia Valentina is one that comes to mind. On Tuesday, it’s a debutant named Eva Daniela to represent the duo and she won’t let the side down. A daughter of I Am Invincible, Eva Daniela has trialled seven times dating back 12 months - nothing she has done was better than her Wyong heat win 20-days ago. Williams Bay could be saved for Gosford on Thursday but he will run well no matter the venue based on his trials and form. Dollar Magic is trained here and has been terrific in her two trials. Has a little dash of quality about her actually.
Bet: Eva Daniela to win, Dollar Magic each-way
RACE 5
Twisted Nikkas is out of a mare who won six races herself. Four of her five foals to race have won a combined total of 11 races. The only one of her foals not to win is Twisted Nikkas but hang on, she’s only had the two starts and ran third at both of them. We should also point out that her most recent third was here to the aforementioned Test The Waters. Big watch on Russley Crown here. Just looking at him in his trials, 1300m on a big track (at home) is the perfect scenario for the son of Shamus Award. Paul Messara’s Snitzel gelding Indicative had ‘next time’ written all over him first-up.
Bet: Twisted Nikkas to win, Russley Crown to place, quinella 4,9
RACE 6
Ficheur is back to country grade again after those three runs back-to-back to back at Rosehill. For what it is worth, I was pretty keen on the horse in the Midway last start but he was never, ever a factor. Suffice to say, this is a lot easier than a Midway and he is a Scone winner. Carlisle Bay is a consistent racehorse who has a win and six placings from his dozen starts. The son of Smart Missile was $7.50 into $5.50 when he resumed at Wyong and kept trying all the way to the line to run an honourable third. Santa Margherita can really launch herself late when circumstances permit.
Bet: Ficheur to win
RACE 7
Nathan Doyle-trained mare Impulse Control has run some quite creditable races in her seven starts. This will be the daughter of Exceed And Excel’s first run since July 3 at Port Macquarie but it doesn’t take a genius to see that she has come back on great shape judging on her trials. Market the best guide to her prospects. Ditto most of that via-a-vie the cleverly named Ezekeil. Cody Morgan’s son of Divine Prophet was tipped after those two ripper runs for him in July/August and the trial at home on December 1 was bang on the money. Stablemate Invincible Fire has to overcome a wide draw. Two Ducks Artie is the value.
Bet: Impulse Control to win, quinella 8,9, box trifecta 7,8,9,14
