Race 5, No.6: COTTON CAPER
Drawn well. Love the slop too. Has been flying of late. Go well.
VALUE BET
Race 7, No.5: APALALA
Is developing a handy little C.V; just run down late by Imatruestar last start which reads well for this.
THE INSIDE MAIL FOR HAWKESBURY
RACE 1
No Nay Jubilee was $21 when she made her Australian debut in a race at Warwick Farm on December 22. Long story short; she ran pretty terribly to be honest but she is much better than that; you can see it in her NZ form and her two quiet trials over our side of the Tasman. Huge improver. Naples has placed at 5 of her 9 starts and 4 of them were seconds. That last of them was a half-length behind Roots which read well for this race. Mrs Gloop is very well named (think Willy Wonka) and the debut was a good one in a good race.
Bet: No Nay Jubilee each-way
RACE 2
Selhurst Park has no excuses today and he shouldn’t need any really. He has been gelded since we last saw him and apparently is more focused now. You wouldn’t see a horse more primed to deliver through the trials than he is. Case of repaying the true believers. Transformation was specked at Canterbury, $11/$9, and gave a real sight too before Chautauqua’s nephew All England collared him late. Go well. Stablemate Beckons has been good enough in two of his three starts to entertain.
Bet: Selhurst Park to win
RACE 3
Amortal is a really flashy chestnut, not unlike his closest and most famous relative Single Gaze. You can read all about him a little over to the left but the gist of it all is that he is a pretty promising and talented horse who was green on debut but beat a subsequent winner just because he was too good. Huge watch on Highly Ambitious. This blue blood filly from the Kris Lees camp has a bit of an X-factor about her too. Godolphin filly Huzzah resumes here, bearing in mind that her only win was first-up. Respect Sirius Girl of course.
Bet: Amortal to win, quinella 2,5
RACE 4
Pleasure to see the Bart Cummings colours in a race; fittingly it will be aboard I’m Divine who is a son of the Cups King’s own Roman Emperor and is trained by grandson Edward Cummings. Don’t get me wrong, this filly is a long way short of a Duais but she is every bit the classic filly from nose to tail. Packer is working his way towards a maiden win and is back to the provincials from a Warwick Farm fourth. Raeteros ran well enough on debut behind a handy one to give thought to her. Not quite yet prepared to part company with Heavenly Prophet from the Hawkes camp.
Bet: I’m Divine to win
RACE 5
Tiempe Passate was $6 into $5 when she made her somewhat anticipated debut at Goulburn on January 24. I say ‘anticipated’ because she had six trials before she raced. Nothing wrong with that when they race as well as she did down south that day. Always a filly who was going to bounce off that run. Losing patience with Scat’s Surfer Girl but let’s give her one more chance to hang ten now that she’s not up against Profondo et al. The ‘support’ for Starstruck Barbie at her last few outings hints that a win is close at hand.
Bet: Tiempe Passate to win, Daily Double 1st leg (14), 2nd leg (9)
RACE 6
Not saying Crime Spree will beat Profondo or that horse from down in Victoria, Green Belt, but if you can find a three-year-old with a better finish on them than this horse, send it in. What he did at Canberra was nothing short of incredible. He is bred to go all the way to big black-type and he might well be there sooner than we think. I’ll tell you a race he could win - the Tulloch Stakes. Clear Blonde has only won 2 from 19 but we all know the drill; bad luck is her middle name. Sandastan is a middle distance/stayer of some future repute for Godolphin.
Bet: Crime Spree to win
RACE 7
Born A Warrior is good enough to be winning midweek metro races; this is the horse that was placed in a Silver Slipper and a Pago Pago after all but that was in a galaxy far. far away from where he is these days. Personally, I thought his run at Warwick Farm on Australian Day was pretty good. It was very typical of him; get back - run on, see how close he can get to the winner. Just A Brother is trained here and races best here looking at his track stats. Tanzimat is a massive player, so is Kung Fu Mushu. One more thing; expecting Yasamine to be at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
Bet: Born A Warrior each-way
