THE INSIDE MAIL FOR HAWKESBURY

RACE 1

Oh Golly Gosh is a lightly-raced mare trained locally; in fact she has raced here four times in her five career starts. The daughter of Artie Schiller was good first-up, better second-up and so it was thus no surprise she was able to win here 16-days ago - and she bolted in too. Speaking of easy wins, Maurice’s Choice - the horse who once split Dark Rebel and Cotehele in town - romped in by almost four-lengths first-up at Goulburn. Drawn perfectly on Tuesday. Lava, the great grandson of Horlicks invariably runs boldly fresh when it’s firm underfoot.

Bet: Oh Golly Gosh to win, exacta 2,4

RACE 2

Belle O’Ballee has raced five times for a win and three placings, one of those was her third here to Gleneagles and Overpass in a pretty darn strong 2YO maiden back in April. Fast forward to October 9 and Belle ‘Ballee ($41 to $26) was impossible to miss when beating all bar the above-average Siege. Passistas won her first three in fine style prior to her honourable third at Gosford behind the very speedy Eyewitness. Think this place will suit her better. Field Wiri has obvious claims. Big watch on Little River who has been trialling well.

Bet: Belle O’Ballee to win

RACE 3

Colour De Roy has looked really good at times, less so on other occasions but if he can get himself into a decent/forward position from the wide draw and not have to sustain too much pressure in the run, he will have no excuses. Gunnamatta is the best horse in the race, it is just a matter of whether he is better second-up. Market will tell the story. Chalkely, once a runner-up in town to Ibaraki - broke his maiden at Queanbeyan 14-days ago. Is up to winning this. Katgully Red is a Highway winner in a winnable race.

Bet: Colour De Roy to win

RACE 4

Critical Time is trained here by Blake Ryan, the son of Shalaa has won all three trials (all of them at Hawkesbury) in April, may and most recently, September 27. Perfect race for the colt to kick off in; have to be with him off those trials. Girl Mania has been around the mark in four of her five runs. The only time she failed as such was in the Magic Night where she was $26 into $18 and only five off the winner. trialled well here 8-days ago. Jewellette is a striking type and value.

Bet: Critical Time to win, Jewellette to place

RACE 5

Yumi is by Pierro out of Belle Couture who is herself a half-sister to Black Caviar and All Too Hard. The Peter and Paul Snowden trained mare was a distant second to the well above average Shihonka at Wyong first-up then went to Goulburn after that and won with a lot of authority. Onward and upward now. That said, Midori Beauty is the big danger because at the moment, we don’t know what her ceiling is. That was a big, big win at Gosford on debut! The Bullring and Spats Pav Bowie are players.

Bet: Yumi to win, quinella 5,6

RACE 6

Fearnought is the third foal of Red Tracer whose best one so far is the stakes-placed Overlord. Fearnought has trialled four times dating back to May and has gone to the line with plenty in hand at all of them. Nice filly. Waller stablemate Prasiolite, the daughter of Jade Marauder, rates highly on her May 19 third on the Kensington track behind In The Congo no less. Yagoona had excuses for his disappointing run at the Farm.

Bet: Fearnought to win, exacta 10 to beat 12, box trifecta 1,9,10,12, Daily Double 1st leg (10), 2nd leg (5)

RACE 7

Depiction resumed as a gelding at Newcastle on September 18, led and won by five lengths. The James Cummings trained son of Exceed And Excel was back in town 18-days later finishing and very close to Snitzonfire who is still unbeaten. No surprise to see American Salute back at Hawkesbury, the son of All American has raced here six times for a win and three placings, noting that the win was at his most recent visit. Lucky To Win is third-up on Tuesday and liable to peak. Good enough to medal.

Bet: Depiction to win, quinella 4,5

RACE 8

Kermatin is a well-bred mare; she is by Kermadec while her third dam is Satin Sand who won an Orlando (aka Coolmore) Classic for Max Lees and Jim Cassidy back in 1986. As for Kermatin, she has got a massive finishing burst on her. She was Christmas come early at the $1.85 in an Albury Bm58 last start! Narrated is mega-consistent and is back to provincial grade after back-to-back city placings. Rodrick’s Secret is off a six length win.

Bet: Kermatin to win
