GOSFORD

BEST BET

Race 5, No.3: CHENIN

She looked good late on debut in town and coming back to provincial level and going up in trip looks like a good combination for her to break through at start two.

NEXT BEST

Race 3, No.6: HASALAKE

She just needs to get away well from an inside gate and then get the run of the race at her home track where she’s placed at on both occasions from her only two runs here.

VALUE BET

Race 6, No.8: SEBRING’S ROSE

Emissive and Miss Glen will battle out favouritism but they might also put enough speed in the race for Sebring’s Rose to pounce late.

QUADDIE

Race 4: 2, 5, 9

Race 5: 1, 3, 4

Race 6: 5, 6, 8

Race 7: 1, 6, 7, 8

TRAINER TO WATCH

Stephen Jones races up-and-comers Love Marilyn and Emissive in the third and sixth races and they might have a number of wins in them in the next year.

JOCKEY TO WATCH

Tommy Berry should be walking away from Gosford with a winner or two. Rides like Shameless Miss, The Winter Sun and Emissive look pretty good.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR GOSFORD

RACE 1

Atonement has the right racing pattern for this track which she runs at for the first time and she’s ready to run this time now and should be in this for a long way. he will have to lift off the last run however because he meets Alastor again who was holding him with ease over 2100m last start but he did win as a $61 chance so is he genuine? He has won four from 17 with five placings so he might be back in form. Power Of Attorney doesn’t win out of turn but has been running in better races than this in town and should be running this trip right out.

Bet: Alastor to win

RACE 2

Shameless Miss is presented fresh from the Waller yard at 1600m which is interesting considering she’s never raced over more than 1500m to date but the master trainer no doubt has a plan and ha figure out what she needs now at start five. Hadouken tries hard and will be better suited to a drier track this time and will sit off them and look to attack late and if they tire up front he’ll take advantage of it. Lucky To Win has only won once from 20 starts which isn’t a great thing but he’s been racing in much better races than this and ha run second here at his only start with a racing pattern to suit.

Bet: Shameless Miss to win

RACE 3

Hasalake just needs to start half decent and she gets the run of the raced from barrier three which is always vitally important here and she’s run two placings from as many attempts at her home track and the blinkers have sharpened her up in track work according to her trainer. Miss Checkoni was given a good hit out at her trial and looks ready to produce fresh after showing promise last time in and should stalk the speed. Watch the betting for Love Marilyn who is on debut off fair enough trial from while Beholder is another market watch under new trainer Nathan Doyle after showing average form under a top city stable previously.

Bet: Hasalake to win

RACE 4

Abuela is a horse on the way up with three placings from as many starts and didn’t win at this track first-up but easily beat the rest of the field home but she does have a tricky gate. The Winter Sun has come back a more mature horse from a spell and his trainer Kylie Gavenlock thinks the grey is a top three chance. Niccyas can get the run of the race from the barrier and is third-up and should peak now off an improving second-up effort. Watch the betting with Damood who resumes off nearly two years away from racing off a nice debut run at Canberra when running above her odds.

Bet: Quinella 5, 9

RACE 5

A nice race. Chenin was good late on debut in town over 1400m. She’s naturally looking for the mile and should be running it out strongly but she has a wide gate to deal with. The blinkers are working for her and she looks well placed. Castlereagh Kid might be the leader here fresh over a mile which is no doubt a plan from the stable after two runs over 1400m at his first prep. Gulf Of Sidra might challenge for the front from what we saw on its debut at Hawkesbury and he’ll appreciate a firmer track this time and natural improvement takes him a long way here.

Bet: Chenin to win

RACE 6

Emissive couldn’t have done much more in winning by nearly seven lengths on debut at Gunnedah and 1200m should be an even better trip. We’ll get a better idea of how good she is up in grade at the provincials. She is well placed in this race. Miss Glen was also an impressive last start winner at this track. She is on a quicker back up this time which should be seen as a positive and it will be interesting to see where she settled from barrier six. Sebring’s Rose was climbing on the backs of them late first-up on the Beaumont track and she should be doing the same again here with speed in the race so she’s the danger late.

Bet: Sebring’s Rose to win

RACE 7

Zetarita has a win at this track already, was doing her best work late her first-up over 1000m and she won second-up last preparation so she’s going to be well supported here. Twitch might look to pinch it from a good draw and Mark Newnham has put the tongue tie on after she faded in town last time. It could improve her greatly. Retrieval drops back in grade, has run well here in the past and should stalk the speed on the rail.

Bet: Zetarita to win
