ROSEHILL

BEST BET

Race 6, No.2: JUAN DIVA

Pierro daughter of Peron; shade unlucky not to have won first-up. Wide draw is the only possible negative for an otherwise perfect set-up.

NEXT BEST

Race 4, No.3: PIPPALI

Finished last - but a close one - in the Group 2 Golden Pendant here last start. Stakes quality mare, placed to win on Wednesday.

VALUE BET

Race 8, No.5: DANCING GIDGET

Taking on a very good field but there aren’t many horses trialling better in Sydney than her lately.

QUADDIE

Race 5: 4

Race 6: 2,9

Race 7: 2

Race 8: 3,4,5,6,8

BEST EXOTIC

Exacta Race 2 No. 4 Kiss Sum to beat No. 3: Depiction

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR ROSEHILL GARDENS

RACE 1

John O’Shea is the master of the Savabeel breed and has a real up and comer here in Champions League whose first two dams both won Group 2 races as two-year-olds. As for Champions League, he made up a stack of ground to be beaten a neck by the future stakes-winner Thousand Years at Kembla. Ingham/Waller filly White Glove Test was very good on debut behind Yearning no less given that she was 1400m - one trial. Nice horse. Caboche likewise sent out some really encouraging signs at his first run.

Bet: Champions League to win, quinella 10,13

RACE 2

Most sane people expected Kiss Sum to win at Wyong but the way he won was probably not as widely anticipated. You don’t see too many gorses back last early at that track and won going away, ears pricked. This is a much better field today of course but this horse might win the Four Pillars yet. The decision to geld Depiction certainly had the desired result. The Godolphin son of Exceed And Excel just ran them off their legs first-up. Harder here. Headliner was runner-up to Stay Inside at her debut.

Bet: Kiss Sum to win

RACE 3

Reformist was $81 into $61 at his first run for Edward Cummings in a Saturday race at Randwick on September 4 and ran accordingly. To think he was only two lengths off winning. The form guide says he ran last of 13 there two weeks later but it wasn’t really as bad as all that. Good roughie. Waller import Agrimony is impossible to line up given that he is on debut today with no public trials. Form reads well; market watch essential. Shibli is going great guns this preparation. His confidence would be sky high now after that Gosford win.

Bet: Reformist each-way

RACE 4

Pippali, the granddaughter of Golden Slipper winner Polar Success, raced at this same venue 11-days ago but that was in the Group 2 Golden Pendant. She ran last of 9 at $101 but two things; one is that she was only beaten three and a half lengths and two, all the horses in the race basically stayed in their positions from start to finish. Fifteen Aria just ran out of room last start at Gosford when a closing second to Margie Bee. Third run in for her today - at home, right trip, McDonald, etc, etc. Seduction Queen, likewise, is third-up and on her way to a peak.

Bet: Pippali to win, quinella 2,3

RACE 5

Mightybeel is a reasonably close relation to Might And Power who would have turned 28 on Wednesday. As for Mightybeel, this Chris Waller-trained gelding was a big drifter first-up when fourth to stablemate Shibli at Gosford. Long story short - he is not a Gosford horse. Trained here and his only win came second-up and he bolted in. Speaking of Might And Power, Enduring Night was bred by Nick Moraitis. This mare is known to get back and charge home. Kuzco Lad will be hard to pass if he is left alone.

Bet: Mightybeel to win, exacta 4 to beat 0

RACE 6

Juan Diva is nominated for the Nivison on the weekend which seems fair enough too given her standard and what some black-type would for her value. In so far as Wednesday is concerned, the only negative is the draw but I thought the same about Vancouver and Farnan in their Slippers and look how that turned out. Masked Maree is a lot better mare than her price. She will presumably get back and get home; the small field certainly helps. Fumiko has won two of her three starts and has J-Mac/box 3. Molly Nails is handy too.

Bet: Juan Diva to win, Masked Maree each-way

RACE 7

Shadow Bridge is a very fast horse whose prospects rose considerably after he drew barrier one. Godolphin galloper Jerle was underwhelming at best first-up at Newcastle. Needs to have improved but he was second to Doubtland in a Kindergarten albeit by four-lengths. Point is, he is handy on his best day - handy enough to win a midweeker. Wonder what the old fella Drachenfels can pull out here.

Bet: Shadow Bridge to win

RACE 8

Others may disagree, but there are many horses trialling better in Sydney in recent weeks than the Ingham/Waller mare Dancing Gidget. It is also worth factoring in that she has raced three times first-up for two wins and a second. On top of that she has won twice here at Rosehill. She certainly will know she is in a race if her stablemate April Rain is there. Barrier one/J-Mac is unbeaten (2 for 2) on her. Bergen could be the big blowout here; he really could.

Bet: Dancing Gidget to win, Bergen each-way, Duet Nos, 4,5
