WYONG

BEST BET

Race 5, No.6: THOUSAND YEARS

She chased home an in-form horse first-up over 1400m and now she gets out to a mile. She won second-up last time in so they are repeating that proven formula.

NEXT BEST

Race 8, No.3: WAY TO THE STARS

He’s been a consistent type to date and didn’t get the cleanest of runs last start at Hawkesbury but still ran on to finish second. He gets his chance now from a good draw.

QUADDIE

Race 5: 2, 6

Race 6: 1, 3, 4, 5

Race 7: 1, 2, 8, 9

Race 8: 2, 3, 4

JOCKEY TO WATCH

The in-form Sam Clipperton will fancy his chances on Miraa View, Thousand Years, Brillar and Game Theory.

GOULBURN

BEST BET

Race 7, No.1: AS YOU WERE

The favourite will be hard to catch out in front but it will also ensure the speed is on for As You Were to come off. He’s got a great finish on him and won here two runs back.

TRAINER TO WATCH

Matthew Smith races three good chances with Credit Crunch, Pacific Force and Definitely Maybe with the latter two looking the best chances and Credit Crunch being an each-way hope.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR WYONG

RACE 5

Thousand Years chased home an in-form horse last time when racing over 1400m first-up and coming from the rear of the field to run second. Last time in she won second-up over 1500m and a mile looks perfect but she does race on a tight track for the first time. Gary Moore thinks taking the blinkers off Vanilla Sky will help her relax in the run after going to fierce at her past two. Publicist drops back in grade and did win second-up last time in and should suit this track with his free-running style. Champions League ran in a red-hot midweek race last time so don’t worry too much about the 10-length defeat.

Bet: Thousand Years to win

RACE 6

Brillar was a little green in holding on for a first-up win at Hawkesbury and he can only take benefit out of it and he gets all the favours from the barrier. Stay Wealthy ran last three weeks ago at Hawkesbury and there were no reasons to be found for the performance. He’s back at Wyong now where he’s won or placed four times from five attempts. Decadent Tale has the speed to be leading this race and being by Kermadec, she should thrive in the wet ground. Spats Pav Bowie wears the winkers for the first time.

Bet: Decadent Tale to win

RACE 7

Not much went right for Different Strokes in a Provincial Championships qualifier first-up but he was finishing off the race well from the rear and he’s won twice from as many attempts at this track. Never Cry has the race fitness on his side and had a good win on a wet track last start at Hawkesbury and Game Theory has also been in a winning mood of late but will need luck to get across from a wide gate and he loves wet tracks.

Bet: Different Strokes to win

RACE 8

A tough end to the day. Coal Crusher smashed them on a Heavy 9 rated track at Hawkesbury to end his last campaign and he won first-up too and even ran a nice fourth at this track last prep and Glyn Schofield knows him well so the stable expectations will be high. Way To The Stars gets the inside gate and he comes off a second placing at Hawkesbury when not getting the best of luck in the straight before finishing off well. Standing Bear flies fresh and handles wet ground so he should be running nicely at a track he’s always raced well on.

Bet: Way To The Stars to win

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR GOULBURN

RACE 4

Choosday Nights showed just how determined she was in winning last star over 1400m and it suggested she’ll be fine to go back up to 1600m again and she likes the sting out of the track so expect another good run and she’ll go close. Roseirro drops back a bit in class after running second at the Sapphire Coast last week and the veteran has showed this time in that he’s still got another win in him. Jack Duggan is back a bit in trip which suits and he’s shown more than enough to suggest he can threaten here.

Bet: Choosday Nights to win

RACE 5

Pacific Force put in a solid debut and can only improve second-up now but the awkward gate is an issue but the horse has the ability to get cover and run on. With luck he’s in with a hope. He lost on debut but beat home the rest with ease. Amathuba likes to make her own luck and race on the speed and her form suggests she’ll be good enough to give them a fright late. If the track doesn’t end up being a bog Choisir’s Choice can bounce back after showing previous good form here on dry tracks.

Bet: Pacific Force to win

RACE 6

Definitely Maybe has been freshened up since running second here five weeks ago and she’s going to be right on the speed here and giving a good sight and is well placed. Jiggler was well supported on debut and ran well from the back part of the field and he looks ready to get up in trip straight away as an improver. Little Lanai was good enough on debut to suggest she’ll do well here with natural improvement on her side.

Bet: Definitely Maybe to win

RACE 7

Ottilie returned an improved horse and won in fine style at Hawkesbury first-up and from barrier two she can lead them again and run out the 1200m. She could be vulnerable late which is a query but on the way she ran out 1100m last time, she should run it strongly. As You Were will be the one coming hard late. He came from well back to win here two runs ago and was luckless when fourth at Canberra last start. He does have to carry 62kg which is the concern. Reoffender hasn’t run worse than second here from five starts and goes well fresh so he’s got to be a chance.

Bet: Quinella 1, 6
